my small act of kindness today:
My husband and I stopped by to chat with one of our favorite customers for no reason except to let him know we think of him when we are in his neighborhood.
He began to tell us stories of his childhood, growing up in an orphanage and running away when he was 14 years-old. At age 17, after living in the streets for several years, a recruiter convinced him to join the Air Force. While telling his story, he said something profound, “They say the apple never falls far from the tree. I never knew my parents, but through my life I have had a whole orchard of people to learn from.”
